Coming Events In The San Gabriel River Ranger District

scheduled to take place in the San Gabriel River Ranger District.
This web page is useful for you if you are looking for information on how
join volunteer efforts which will:
- Work on maintaining and restoring hiking and nature trails
- Plant trees for watershed restoration
- Bust up illegal rock dams in a river
- Clear brush and other combustables for fire mitigation
- Build or restore signage along highways or trails
- Acquire hands-on training with gasoline powered chainsaws
- Acquire hands-on training with crosscut hand saws
- Build and maintain foot and equestrian bridges
- Build and maintain rock walls and rock bridges
- Pick up trash and litter
- Meet community service requirements
- Scrub and swamp out toilets (Coordinated with the USFS)
- Take children out on nature hikes (Coordinated with the USFS)
- Remove spray paint from roads, signs, rocks (Coordinated with the USFS)
- Acquire College credits and gain experince for forestry work
- Healthy free exercise! to get in shape and stay in shape

Some Scheduled Events

We meet at the Gateway Information Center which is pictured
in the photograph offered above. We meet on the first, third, and fifth
Saturday of every month, leaving the Gateway Center at 8:00 a.m. sharp
and we usually return to the Gateway at around 4:00 p.m.
- July 3rd 2010 -- We will be working today. We may be working
within the Crystal Lake area or we may be doing fire patrolls and mitigation
as assigned or requested. We gather at the USFS Gateway Information Center
at the base of the mountain along Highway 39 and we will leave the Center
promptly at 8:00 a.m. to go up to the Rincon Fire Station to collect tools
and materials, then we will travel to the work site. For further information,

- July 17th 2010 -- We gather at the USFS Gateway Information Center
at the base of the mountain along Highway 39 and we will leave the Center
promptly at 8:00 a.m. to go up to the Rincon Fire Station to collect tools
